Mathematical morphology in image processing of digital 2D scientific photography

Abstract:

In this thesis, we study the processing of scientific photography in the grayscale using mathematical morphology algorithms. We apply defined techniques from a theoretical part to the coronary cut T1-weighted MRI scans of patients with Alzheimer disease, which we register using affine transformation to preserve unity of the pictures. From the gained quantitative information in the late parts of the thesis, we estimate the evolving atrophy of the regions of the interest and Scheltens´ score of wards, in which we do not have this information. We used software R for algorithms implementation and data analysis.

Abstract:

V tejto diplomovej práci sa venujeme spracovaniu vedeckej fotografie v škále odtieňoch sivej pomocou algortimov matematickej morfológie. Definované techniky v teoretickej časti aplikujeme na koronárny rez T1-vážených MRI skenov pacientov s Alzheimerovou chorobou, ktoré pre zachovanie jednotnosti snímok registrujeme pomocou afínnej transformácie. Zo získaných kvantitatívnych informácií v závere práce odhadujeme časový vývoj atrofie regiónov záujmu a Scheltensovo skóre vizít, u ktorých túto informáciu nemáme k dispozícii. Implementácia algoritmov a analýza dát prebehli v softvéri R.
