A Nobleman and a Nobility in a Historical Fiction in the 19th Century

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá beletristickým zpracováním tematiky šlechtice a šlechtictví v historické literatuře 19. století. Na základě vybraných prozaických děl Zikmunda Wintra a Aloise Jiráska jsou analyzovány ženské a mužské postavy urozených. Zároveň charakterizuje a porovnává tvůrčí metody obou autorů. Pozornost dále věnuje mýtům a stereotypům spojeným s fenoménem šlechtictví. Výsledkem práce je zhodnocení společenské úlohy šlechty při utváření české národní identity.

Abstract:

The final work is focused on elaborating of the topic of an aristocracy and an aristocrat in the historical fiction of 19. century. On the basis of the chosen fiction by Zikmund Winter and Alois Jirásek there are analyzed female and male aristocrat characters. At the same time the work compares creative methods of both writers. The attention is aimed at the myths and stereotypes connected with the phenomenon of aristocracy. The final result of the work is the assessment of the social role of the aristocracy in forming of the czech national identity.
