Abstract:

Dohazování je součástí čínské historie více než dva tisíce let. Tato práce se zaměřuje na jeho současné podoby, zvláště na online portály. Práce analyzuje normy tradičního dohazování a jejich vliv na vývoj současných online portálů, a zkoumá je v širším kontextu. Mohlo by se zdát, že výsledek takové analýzy je jasný, neboť lidé, kteří takové portály využívají, se od tradičních způsobů právě tím již distancovali. Nicméně samotná existence online dohazovacích portálů značí, že tomu tak být nemusí. Nakonec, není mobilní aplikace nebo webová stránka, která vám pomůže najít partnera či partnerku, jen další dohazovač?

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to explore the contemporary forms of marriage matchmaking in China, with special focus on online portals. Marriage matchmaking has been a part of Chinese history for more than 2000 years. These online portals seem to be its latest form; thus, they were chosen to be introduced in detail. The thesis analyses the past matchmaking implications in these online portals and examines them in a broader context. Trying to find traditional matchmaking in a space which is highly globalised might seem to be a task with an easily guessed outcome, since the sample of people using it has already distanced from the tradition just by choosing to use cyber space to find a spouse. Arguably, since even search for a partner adjusted to the cyber environment, it suggests that the matchmaking services adjusted as well. In the end, what is a mobile application helping you to find a date or a spouse, but another matchmaker?
