Hybrid practices and authenticity: an ethnographic study of the equestrian community

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zkoumáním a pozorováním nových hybridních praktik v jezdecké komunitě. Literární rešerše zasazuje zkoumané téma do kontextu, v němž se odehrává a vysvětluje pojmy, se kterými se ve výzkumu pracuje. Cílem této práce je nalézt a pozorovat nové hybridní praktiky. Vedlejším cílem je pak zjistit, zda mobilní telefon zprostředkovává či nějakým způsobem ovlivňuje spotřebitelský zážitek a jeho autenticitu. Práce má formu etnografické studie. V rámci teoretické části je věnována část spotřebitelským (hybridním) praktikám, vlivu digitálních technologií a spotřebitelským komunitám. Následuje část o spotřebitelském zážitku, kde je kladen důraz na autenticitu. V metodologické části, jsou představeny metody, které byly pro výzkum využity, popsán průběh výzkumu, etická úskalí a limitace. Po metodologické části následuje interpretace dat, která vzešla z deníků a fenomenologických rozhovorů. V rámci shrnutí a diskuze pak jsou zodpovězeny výzkumné otázky, popsány hybridní praktiky v jezdecké komunitě a způsob přenosu autenticity v rámci spotřebitelského zážitku.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the research and observation of new hybrid practices in the equestrian community. Literary research places topics in the context in which it takes place and explains the concepts that are used in research. The aim of this work is to find and observe new hybrid practices in specific community. The secondary goal is to find out if the mobile phones mediate or in some way influence the consumer experience and its authenticity. This thesis takes the form of an ethnographic study. The theoretical part is dedicate to consumer (hybrid) practices, the impact of digital technologies and consumer communities (and subculture). It is follow by a section of the consumer experience, where the emphasis is on the authenticity. In the methodological part are presented used methods in the research. The course of research, ethical difficultires and limitations are described here too. This part is followed by the interpretation of research data that came up from diaries and phenomenological interviews. In the summary part are research questions answered, hybrid practices and the way of mediationg authenticity as a part of consumer experiende are described too. Other options for future research are discussed in the last section.
