Restoration of the limestone statue of Juno from the Uherčice State Castle

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce obsahuje komplexní restaurátorský zásah na vápencové soše bohyně Juno, patřící do sochařského souboru ze Státního zámku Uherčice. Součástí práce je umělecko-historický průzkum, chemicko-technologický průzkum a restaurátorský průzkum, na jejichž základě byl vytvořený restaurátorský záměr. Práce dále dokumentuje postup při samotném restaurátorském zásahu a použité materiály. Celý průběh je fotograficky dokumentován. Socha Junóny pochází z poloviny 17. století a zásah na ní navázal na koncepci již restaurovaných soch ze souboru z let 2018 a 2019. Dílo bylo šetrně a řádně zrestaurováno díky hlubšímu poznání díla a základě provedených průzkumů, bylo mu ustanoveno korektní pojmenování, nejcitelnějším zásahem bylo slepení sochy do správné rotace a zaklonění a zhotovení zcela nové hlavy, která taktéž navazuje na předešlé restaurované sochy ze souboru. Nevyřešenou otázkou stále zůstává autor souboru, celistvost souboru a správné ikonografické určení jednotlivých soch.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis includes complex restoration intervention executed on the limestone statue of the goddess Juno which belongs to the sculptural ensemble from the Uherčice castle. Art-historical research, chemical-technological research and restoration research are parts of the study, on the basis of which the restoration plan was created. The study also documents the progress of the intervention itself and the materials which were used. This whole process was photographically documented. The statue of Juno dates from the middle of the 17th century. The intervention followed the concept of already restored sculptures from the collection from the years 2018 and 2019. Because of deeper knowledge and surveys, the statue was gently and properly restored and it's name was corrected. The most difficult intervention was to glue the parts of the sculpture into the right position and rotating and tilting newly created head which also builds on the previous restored statues from the ensemble. The name of the author, the integrity of the ensemble and the correct iconography of the theme still remain unresolved.
