Protection of network against layer 2 attacks

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá útoky na 2. vrstvu OSI modelu. Teoretická část popisuje princip všech známých útoků, spadající mezi útoky na 2. vrstvu. Praktická část je zaměřena na realizaci vybraných útoků v laboratorní síti. U každého realizovaného útoků je také aplikovaná a následně otestována obrana. Součástí praktické částí je otestování odolnosti počítačové sítě Ostravské univerzity vůči jednotlivým útokům. Praktická část dále zahrnuje autorem vytvořený program, schopný detekovat jeden vybraný útok, konkrétně ARP spoofing.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with attacks on the second layer of the OSI model. The theoretical part describes the principles of all known attacks that belong among the second layer attacks. The practical part is focused on execution of the chosen attacks within laboratory network. There is application and testing of defence with each executed attack. The practical part includes testing of endurance of the University of Ostrava?s network against individual attacks. The practical part also includes program designed by the author of the thesis which is able to detect one chosen attack, specifically ARP spoofing.
