Current business environment of South Korea

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá současným podnikatelským prostředím Korejské republiky. Cílem této práce je zjistit, v jaké situaci se podnikatelské prostředí Korejské republiky momentálně nachází, a jaká pozitiva a překážky by pro tuzemské podnikatele mohlo při vstupu na tento trh představovat. Hlavní metody, které jsou využity k vypracování práce, jsou SWOT a PESTLE analýza. Tato práce je rozdělena do celkem dvou kapitol. První kapitola teoreticky objasňuje veškeré použité metody. Druhá kapitola se věnuje samotné analýze podnikatelského prostředí. Velká část této kapitoly je věnována PESTEL analýze: politickým, ekonomickým, socio-kulturním, technologickým, ekologickým a legislativním faktorům ovlivňujícím podnikatelské prostředí. Následná část kapitoly se věnuje hodnocení korejského podnikatelského prostředí známými ratingovými agenturami a mezinárodními organizacemi. Poslední část je věnována analýze vztahů mezi Korejskou republikou a Českou republikou.Hlavním zjištěním této práce je, že Korejská republika je jednou z nejatraktivnějších asijských destinací pro české i evropské podnikatele. Toto teritorium je poměrně stabilní a vyznačuje se svou nízkou rizikovostí. Díky dohodám uzavřeným Evropskou unií je místní trh evropským podnikatelům také velmi otevřený. Zájem korejských subjektů o Českou republiku také značně usnadňuje případné navázání obchodních vztahů, které jsou pro Korejce klíčové pro jakoukoliv obchodní interakci. Mezi největší slabiny korejského trhu lze zařadit nedostatečnou vybavenost primárními surovinami a korupční prostředí v rámci soudnictví a vlády. Z analýzy také vyplynula různá specifika a zvláštnosti, které korejský trh vystihují. Patří sem vysoká ekonomická stabilita, velmi pokročilá infrastruktura, nízké bariéry vstupu na trh v rámci Asie, méně rozvinutá práva zaměstnanců, kulturní a geografická vzdálenost, velká dostupnost a rychlost internetu, velmi silné pokrytí sítí elektrické energie, preference silných a dlouhodobých vztahů při obchodování a střet velmi tradiční společnosti v rychle modernizujícím se prostředí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is about the Republic of Korea’s current business environment. The aim of this thesis is to understand the nature of that environment and find out its positive and negative aspects regarding the start of a new business in the country. The main methods used in this thesis are the SWOT and PESTEL analysis.The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first chapter theoretically explains all methods used within the thesis. The second chapter is dedicated to the actual analysis of the business environment. Most of this analysis is done through PESTEL analysis: examining political, economical, socio-cultural, environmental and legislative factors that could affect the start of a new business. The next part of this chapter talks about ratings of South Korea from the most known international organizations and rating agencies. The last part is dedicated to the analysis of business relations between the Republic of Korea and Czech Republic.The main discovery of this thesis is that for Czech and European entrepreneurs South Korea truly has some competitive advantage over other Asian countries. This territory is highly stable and poses little risk. Because of the agreements made between European Union and South Korea, the Korean market is very open to European entrepreneurs. Korean investors are also very interested in Czech companies and this helps entrepreneurs from both countries to strengthen their business relationship. Business relationships are the key to doing business in South Korea and therefore this is an important advantage. The biggest weaknesses of the Korean market are the low presence of raw materials and its corruption regarding the court and the government. The analysis also revealed several specific elements of the Korean market: high economical stability, very advanced infrastructures, low entry barriers to the market compared to the rest of Asia, less developed workers rights, cultural and geographical distance, exceptionally good availability and velocity of the internet and electricity, the preference of strong and long-term business relationships and the clash of a very traditional society with a fast-developing modern environment.
