Tailoring the teaching of German as a second language according to different types of learners - a pilot study focused on visual type of learners conducted at secondary school in Most, Czech Republic

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of learning styles and their consideration in teaching German language. The thesis was based on the author's own teaching activities at secondary hotel school in Most. The overall design of the research is based on three sub-researches. One of them is the determination of the dominant learning type in all the pupils involved in the research through questionnaire survey. The second sub-research is an analysis of a textbook used in German language teaching. Based on this analysis, was found out which learning types of learners are targeted by the textbook and to what extent.The last sub-research was the creation of our own teaching materials focusing on visual types. The effectiveness of these aids was verified by a control group of pupils by comparing the results of pupils who worked with these teaching materials together with a group of pupils who didn't work with them.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou učebních stylů a jejich zohledňováním při výuce německého jazyka. K práci byla využita vlastní pedagogická činnost autorky této práce na střední hotelové škole v Mostě. Celkový design provedené akční studie je založen na třech dílčích výzkumech. Jedním z nich je stanovení dominantního učebního typu u všech žáků zapojených do výzkumu pomocí dotazníkového šetření. Druhým dílčím výzkumem je analýza učebnice používané při výuce německého jazyka, na jejímž základě jsme zjistili, které učební typy žáků učebnice oslovuje a v jaké míře. Posledním dílčím výzkumem byla tvorba vlastních učebních materiálů zaměřených na vizuální typy s následným ověřením jejich efektivity ve výuce dle dosažených výsledků žáků, kteří s těmito učebními materiály pracovali, ve srovnání s kontrolní skupinou žáků, která s nimi nepracovala.
