From the Colonial to the Postcolonial Island: Island Novels from Defoe's Robinson Crusoe to Coetzee's Foe
Abstract:
This bachelor's thesis deals with the island literature and it analyses novels Robinson Crusoe, The Coral Island and Foe with the aim of identificate and compare the main themes in these novels. The main goal of the thesis is to show the development of the island novels from the colonial times to the postcoloial times and also to show the similarities and differences between these novels.
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tematikou ostrovní literatury a analyzuje romány Robinson Crusoe, Korálový ostrov a Ďabiel DeFoe s cílem zmapovat a porovnat stěžejní témata v těchto románech. Hlavním cílem práce je ukázat vývoj ostrovních románů od dob kolonializace až po post kolonializaci a identifikovat podobnosti a rozdíly mezi těmito romány.
