Use of maps in historical teaching

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je úvodní sonda do problematiky map v dějepisných učebnicích. Stručným úvodem jsou představeny základní informace o mapách z pohledu kartografie a následně zařazení map mezi didaktické prostředky využívané v hodinách dějepisu. Další část této práce popisuje jednotlivé série učebnic. Předkládá také porovnání zobrazovaných map v učebnicích na příkladu II. republiky. Mapy vztahující se k tomuto období, legendy a úkoly pro práci s nimi jsou porovnávány odděleně u učebnic určených základním a středním školám a gymnáziím. Komparaci tohoto typu grafických médií a jejich využití v zahraničí umožňuje tematická sonda do zahraničních učebnic dějepisu. Třetí část práce představuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření u studentů historie na vysokých školách, u kterých lze předpokládat, že budou vyučovat dějepis. Závěrečné shrnutí naznačuje další možnosti uchopení sledované problematiky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is an introductory probe on maps in history textbooks. In the brief introduction are the basic pieces of information about maps from the point of view of cartography and the inclusion of maps among the didactic means used in the history lessons. The other part of this thesis describes individual series of textbooks. It also presents a comparison of displayed maps in the textbooks on the example of II. republic. Maps related to this period, legends and tasks for work with them are compared separately with textbooks for primary, secondary, grammar and high schools. Comparison of this type of graphic media and its use abroad enables the thematic probe to a history of foreign history textbooks. The third part of the thesis presents the results of a questionnaire surveys of history students at universities where they can be expected to teach history. The final summary suggests other possibilities for grasping this issue.
