Rasové a genderové motivy ve vědecko-fantastické tvorbě Octavie E. Butlerové

Abstract:

This thesis introduces the significant African American SF writer, Octavia E. Butler, and her work. It places her work in to a broader context of SF literature, black and feminist studies. The main part of this thesis is devoted to the detailed analysis of her 11 novels from the perspective of their race and gender representation. The aim of this thesis is to point out at the unifying motives of her work and to define the pattern to which all her main female protagonists fit

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce seznamuje s významnou americkou černošskou sci-fi autorkou Octavií E. Butlerovou a její románovou tvorbou. Práce zasazuje její dílo do širšího kontextu scifi literatury, černošských a feministických studií. V hlavní části se věnuje detailní analýze jejích 11 románů, a to z hlediska jejich rasových a genderových motivů. Cílem práce je poukázat na sjednocující motivy jejích děl a definovat opakující se model jejích hlavních ženských postav
