Acidorezistentní Mycobacterium tuberculosis způsobuje specifické zánětlivé onemocnění zvané tuberkulóza. Nejčastěji bývají napadeny plíce. Tuberkulóza patří i v 21. století k největším zabijákům lidské populace a každý rok jí podlehne přes milion lidí. Ve vyspělých zemích, vč. ČR, je však její výskyt poměrně nízký. Acid-fast Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes a specific inflammatory disease called tuberculosis. The lungs are the most often affected organ. Tuberculosis is one of the biggest killers of the human population in the 21st century, killing more than a million people per year.
