An Alternative Approach to the Measuring of the Quantity of Money in Circulation and its Relation to the Inflation Rate

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje analýze vhodnosti měření množství peněz v ekonomice pomocí alternativního přístupu Money of Zero Maturity ve vztahu k vývoji míry inflace. Na začátku práce jsou uvedeny základní pojmy a charakteristika peněz a inflace. Dále je popsán alternativní měnový agregát Money of Zero Maturity. V další části je stručný popis statistických metod, které jsou dále využity k analýze vztahu množství peněz v oběhu a vlivu na inflaci na území ČR a USA. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty výsledky provedené analýzy a možné závěry pro měnovou politiku České republiky.

Abstract:

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of the suitability of measuring quantity of money in the economy using the alternative approach of Money of Zero Maturity in relation to the inflation rate. At the beginning of the work, the basic concepts and definitions of money and inflation are mentioned. Further, the presentation of the alternative monetary aggregate Money of Zero Maturity is described. The next section concisely describes the statistical methods, which are then used for the analysis of the relationship of the quantity of money in circulation and the effect on inflation in the Czech Republic and the USA. In the conclusion of the thesis there is a summary of the results of the analysis and the possible conclusions for the monetary policy of the Czech Republic.
