This thesis deals with terrorism on the African continent, with attention to the Boko Haram movement in Nigeria and al-Shabaab in Somalia. Due to their activities in recent years, both groups have attracted great media interest, as they pose a major security threat not only to the people of Nigeria and Somalia, but also to neighboring countries.
