Cultural Landscape of Bohemia and its Genius Loci - Tachov and Pilgrimage Site Světce

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na proměnu české kulturní krajiny a jejího genia loci na příkladu města Tachova a poutního místa Světce. Přestože ke Světcům již existuje literatura, je samozřejmě možné i dnes narazit na nové informace, které téma buď zpřesňují či doplňují. Nejstarší historie Světců je spojena s poutním kostelíkem zasvěceným Čtrnácti svatým Pomocníkům. Již zasvěcení kostela upozorňuje na čilé styky mezi Bavorskem a Čechami v minulosti. V 17. století prošla celá krajina Čech velkou proměnou, která souvisela s nástupem baroka po třicetileté válce. To se samozřejmě týkalo rovněž Světců, kde to bylo ještě umocněno tím, že nový majitel Tachova Jan Filip Husmann z Namedy a Riolsburgu sem přivedl nový řád paulánů, kteří se zde na 150 let usídlili. Po zrušení kláštera Josefem II. celé Světce i s bývalým klášterem odkoupil Josef Mikuláš Windischgrätz. S jeho synem polním maršálem Alfrédem I. Windischgätzem je pak spojena velkolepá přeměna Světců z poutního místa na aristokratickou rezidenci završenou mohutnou jízdárnou. V závěru práce jsou přiblíženy osudy celého areálu po roce 1945 a jeho nový život.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the change of the Czech countryside and its genius loci using the example of the town of Tachov and Světce pilgrim site. Although there are literary resources on Světce it is still possible to come across new information which either specify or add data to the given topic. The oldest history of Světce is connected with the pilgrim church devoted to the Fourteen Holy Helpers. From the fact of devotion it is obvious that there used to be busy traffic between Bavaria and Bohemia. In the 17th century the whole Bohemian countryside went through a major change connected with the coming Baroque after the 30 Years´ War. The apparent influence on Světce was magnified by the fact that the new owner of Tachov Jan Filip Husmann of Nameda and Riolsburg- brought the new Order of Minims who settled there for the following 150 years. After the abolishment of the monastery by Joseph II the whole Světce village including the former monastery was bought by Josef Mikuláš Windischgrätz. His son- field marshal Alfred I Windischgrätz is connected with a spectacular changeover of Světce from a pilgrim site into an aristocratic residence culminating with a massive riding school. The end of the thesis focuses on the history of the whole premises after 1945 and its new life.
