Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá způsoby, kterými byli homosexuálové od 40. do 80. let minulého století zobrazováni v médiích. Zkoumá společenskou a politickou situaci gayů a také způsoby, kterými média informovala o homosexualitě a homosexuálech a tím zároveň ovlivňovala názor široké veřejnosti. Tato bakalářská práce srovnává společenskou situaci ve Spojených Státech Amerických a Velké Británii, stejně jako postavení homosexuálů v těchto zemích a jejich médiích. Také se snaží odpovědět na otázku, zdali existoval vzájemný vztah mezi názory médií a veřejnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the ways gay people were described in the media from the 1940s to the 1980s. It examines the social as well as political situation of gay people and researches the ways the media reported on homosexuality and thus influenced the public. This thesis compares the social situations in the USA and Great Britain and the positions of gay people in these countries and their media. It also tries to answer the question if there was an interrelation between the attitudes of the media and the public.
