Business Security in financial institution and its operating risk management

Abstract:

The aim of my Bachelor thesis is to analyse, define and characterize operating risks of banks as well as to analyze the reasons for the occurrence of operating losses (events) in a payment system of a commercial bank based on the study of literature and operating directives and with the use of my own experience gained in connection with the settlement of payment system complaints. The bachelor´s thesis is focused on the issue of operating risk and its management by a financial institution. In the first chapter, I define operating risk and its individual categories. In the following two chapters, I describe types of operating losses. The fourth and six chapters are focused on the measurement methods and operating risk management respectively. In the sixth and seven chapters, I go in detail into the issue of business continuity planning and outsourcing as operating risk management tools. The operating risk management implementation is the centre of the eight chapter. The last nine chapter includes an analysis of operating risk occurrence in a bank payment system. The analysis is based on experience gained through complaint settlement.

Abstract:

Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je analyzovať, definovať a vymedziť operačné riziko v bankách, ako aj analyzovať príčiny vzniku operačných strát (udalostí) v platobnom styku v komerčnej banke na základe štúdia literatúry, prevádzkových smerníc a vlastných skúseností získaných z riešenia reklamácií platobného styku. Bakalárska práca je zameraná na problematiku operačného rizika a jeho riadenia vo finančnej inštitúcii. V prvej kapitole sa venujem definícii operačného rizika, jeho jednotlivé kategórie a druhy operačných strát popisujem v ďalších dvoch kapitolách. Štvrtá kapitola je zameraná na metódy merania a následne piata kapitola na riadenie operačného rizika. V šiestej kapitole sa detailnejšie venujem problematike Business Continuity Planning a v siedmej kapitole Outsourcingu ako nástrojov riadenia operačného rizika. Implementácii riadenia operačného rizika je venovaná ôsma kapitola. Posledná, deviata kapitola, predstavuje vlastnú analýzu vzniku operačných rizík v oblasti Platobného styku v banke na základe získaných skúseností pri riešení reklamácií.
