On the Theory and Concepts of the Information Society. Dichotomic Conception

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce "K teoriím a konceptům Informační společnosti. Dichotomické pojetí" je zaměřena na hlavní otázky provázející rozvoj Informační společnosti. V úvodu je vysvětleno, z jakého důvodu vůbec uvažujeme o konceptu Informační společnosti. Dále jsou rozebrány historické kořeny vzniku technologií a přijetí konceptu vládními dokumenty. V další části práce jsou uvedeny významné charakteristiky Informační společnosti. Nejzávažnější otázky jsou dále rozebírány v části analýza teorií Informační společnosti, která je postavena na dichotomickém přístupu autorů k problematice. Konkrétně se jedná o tyto dichotomie: Technologický determinismus : Sociální determinismus, Virtualita : Realita, Posílení sociálního kapitálu : Nadvláda Virtuálních tříd, Rozšíření sociálních vazeb : Rozpad sociálních vazeb, Rozvoj vzdělanosti : Informační přesycenost, Minimalizace sociální exkluze : Digital divide.

Abstract:

The bachelors thesis "On the Theory and Concepts of the Information Society. Dichotomic Conception" focuses on the main questions accompanying the development of the information society. In the introductory part there is an explanation of why we are considering the concept of the Information society. The historical roots of the birth of the technology and adoption of the concept by government documents are also examined. In the next part of the thesis, the significant characteristics of the information society are given. The most serious issues are dealt with further in the part analysis of theories of the information society, which is based on the dichotomous approach of the authors to the matter. Specifically, it involves these dichotomies: Technological determinism : Social determinism, Virtuality : Reality, Strengthening of social capital : Rule of virtual classes, Expansion of social connections : Decay of social connections, Development of education : Information saturation, Minimisation of social exclusion : Digital divide.
