Predetermined to rule: power and influence in the hands of the elites

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je přehledovou studií o moci a vlivu, jak na ně nahlíží sociologie. Zaměřuje se mimo jiné na determinanty společenské moci, ať už jsou jimi vrozené vlastnosti, získané dovednosti či historickokulturní vývoj určité skupiny lidí. V počátku práce nabídne definice a klasifikace sociální stratifikace a z ní pocházejícího fenoménu moci a vlivu. Rozebírá jednotlivé aspekty společenské moci a symbolickou výbavu jednotlivců touto mocí disponujících. Na vliv je nahlíženo i z pohledu výzkumu měření názorového vůdcovství. Další kapitoly se zabývají klasickou teorií elity, kdy prostřednictvím hlavních teoretiků tohoto myšlení popisuje vládnoucí třídy, přičemž se soustředí na ty faktory, které příslušnost k vládnoucí třídě předurčují. V závěrečné části se dosud zjištěné poznatky aplikují na vlivné osobnosti současnosti. Nejdříve na diskutovanou židovskou elitu, následně na nejmocnější a nejbohatší lidi světa podle amerického magazínu Forbes.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis provides an overwiev of the social power and influence from the perspective of the sociology. Among other things it focuses on determinants of social power, both in the terms of the inherited properties, obtained skills and historical-cultural developments of the particular group of people. The introduction offers definitions and classifications of the social stratification and derived from it phenomenon of influence and power. Further on the study analyzes particular aspects of the social power and symbolic prerequisites of individuals who posses this power. The influence is also looked at through the research of the opinion leadership. Subsequent chaptures deal with the classical theory of elites, when the ruling social strata are analyzed by the key representatives of this discipline. The main attention is payed to the factors, which predetermined factors for the memberships to the ruling class. The conclusions apply the obtained knowledge to the analysis of the most influential players of today. These groups of people include the Jewish elite and then the richest and most powerful individuals according to the american forbes magazine.
