Diversity management as a staff personal potential development tool

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je problematika řízení různorodosti zaměstnanců, tedy diversity managementu. Úvod práce je zaměřen na teoretické vymezení pojmu diverzita, jejich dimenzí, úrovní, proces její implementace, jiné společenské jevy, jakými jsou předsudky, stereotypy a druhy diskriminace a závěrem překážky při jejím prosazování. Jsou zde uvedeny pohledy na různé sociální skupiny, kterými by se měl koncept diversity managementu obzvláště zabývat. Jde především o problematiku zaměstnávání žen a mužů na mateřských a rodičovských dovolených, cizinců, osob starších padesáti let a osoby zdravotně znevýhodněné. Dalším tématem je vyváženost osobního a pracovního života zaměstnanců v organizaci. Poslední kapitolou je aplikace diversity managementu v různých odvětvích organizace a jeho přínosy. Tato práce objasňuje důvody, proč by měl být diversity management do organizací zaváděn.

Abstract:

The aim of my dissertation is to elaborate on issues regarding management of heterogeneous employee environment or diversity management. The theoretical part of my dissertation is mainly focused on explaining basic terms of diversity,such as its dimensions, levels, and implementation processes. Also, I will examine other social phenomenons including prejudices, stereotypes, biases, different kinds of discrimination, and barriers of diversity implementation. My dissertation provides several examples of social groups that should be particularly examined by the concept of diversity management. For example, the issue of employing men and women on parental leave, foreigners, persons older than 50 years old, and individuals with disabilities. The next part of my dissertation elucidates the balance between personal life and working life of employees within organizations. The last chapter is the practical part focusing on diversity management in several spheres within an organization, its benefits, and examples of successful diversity management executed by companies in the Czech Republic. This dissertation clarifies why diversity management is important and why it should be implemented within organizations.
