Trutnov - Czech Woodstock? Anthropological view of open-air festival Trutnov and its long-time fans

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá tématem dlouholetých návštěvníků Trutnovského open air festivalu z antropologické perspektivy. Cílem práce je pokusit se zjistit, zda se dají tito dlouholetí návštěvníci považovat za subkulturu, a snaha popsat fungování, hlavní myšlenky a vývoj festivalu od jeho počátků až po současnost. Tento teoretický text zejména doplňuje přiložené audiovizuální dílo, jelikož autorka svůj výzkum reprezentuje pomocí metod vizuální antropologie. Text souvisí s filmem, reflektuje podmínky před natáčením, důvody pro které si autorka zvolila tento způsob zobrazení, a vysvětluje kritéria výběru a metody řazení použitého materiálu. Práce se také snaží kriticky hodnotit limity daného zobrazení, reflektovat pozici výzkumníka v terénu a také situace, které se ve filmu nepodařilo zachytit.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the long-term visitors of Trutnov Open Air Festival from the anthropological perspective. The main intention is to try to determine whether they can be considered as a long-time visitors subculture and attempt to describe the functioning of the main ideas and the development of the festival from the beginning up to present. Because the author represents her research by using the methods of visual anthropology, this theoretical text is accompanied by the audiovisual work. This text is associated with the film. It reflects the conditions before the filming and the reasons why the author has chosen this way of display. It also explains the criteria of the selection and the methods of sorting the used footage. The work is also trying to critically evaluate the limits of the display, to reflect the position of the researcher in the field and also to reflect the situation that the film failed to capture.
