Issues Concerning the Translation of Postdramatic Theatre. Illustration Through the Czech Translations of Angélica Liddell's Work

Abstract:

The thesis concerns with problematic of the translation of postdramatic theatre. It is based on Hans-Thies Lehmann’s theory of postdramatic theatre, on Erika Fischer-Lichte’s theory of performance and on the theory of theatre translation formulated, for example, by Susan Bassnett, Eva Espasa, David Johnston, Micaela van Muylem or Beatriz Trastoy. The thesis focused on the work of contemporary Spanish dramatist Angélica Liddell. The practical part presents literary and discourse analysis of her plays “Perro muerto en tintorería: los fuertes” (“Mrtvý pes v čistírně: Silní”, translated by Petr Gojda) and “Y los peces salieron a combatir contra los hombres” (“A vydaly se ryby válčiti s člověkem”, translated by Kateřina Chromková and Eliška Pírková) and subsequently coments its Czech translations with emphasis on specific problems related with the translation of postdramatic theatre: dialogue with audience, rhythm like a dominant principle, poetic word on the stage, intertextuality of performance text, self-reflection of postdramatic theatre.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou překladu postdramatického divadla. Opírá se o teorii postdramatického divadla Hanse-Thiese Lehmanna, teorii estetiky performativity Eriky Fischer-Lichte a teorii překladu divadelních her, jíž se zabývají například Susan Bassnett, Eva Espasa, David Johnston, Micaela van Muylem nebo Beatriz Trastoy. Práce se zaměřuje na dílo současné španělské dramatičky Angéliky Liddell. V praktické části předkládá literární a diskurzivní analýzy jejích her „Perro muerto en tintorería: los fuertes“ („Mrtvý pes v čistírně: Silní“, přeložil Petr Gojda) a „Y los peces salieron a combatir contra los hombres“ („A vydaly se ryby válčiti s člověkem“, přeložily Kateřina Chromková a Eliška Pírková) a následně komentuje jejich české překlady s důrazem na specifické problémy spojené s překladem postdramatického divadla: dialog s divákem, rytmus jako řídicí princip, poetické slovo na scéně, intertextualita performativního textu a sebereflexe postdramatického divadla.
