World Religions from the Perspective of Diamond Way Buddhism

Abstract:

Dánský učitel tibetského buddhismu lama Ole Nydahl je vůdčí postavou celosvětového společenství Buddhismu Diamantové cesty linie Karma Kagjü na Západě a kontroverzní osobností především vzhledem k jeho nevybíravým kritikám na adresu islámu, ale také jiných světových náboženství. Cílem této práce je částečné zmapování a uchopení pohledů na světová náboženství z perspektivy členů náboženské společnosti Buddhismus Diamantové cesty linie Karma Kagjü v České republice. Tématem první a druhé kapitoly je původ této linie v kontextu vadžrajány a rozvoj Buddhismu Diamantové cesty v ČR. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola je věnována sebepochopení této náboženské společnosti a jejímu vztahu jiným směrům buddhismu a ostatním světovým náboženstvím (indické tradice, židovství, křesťanství, islám). Poslední kapitola pak nahlíží na tendence k negativnímu sebevymezování skupiny v souvislosti s konstrukcí osobní náboženské identity členů. Pokouší se také analyzovat hlubší příčiny těchto tendencí a funkce negativního sebedefinování pro sociální organismus tohoto nového náboženského hnutí.

Abstract:

Lama Ole Nydahl the Danish teacher of the Tibetan Buddhism is the leading person of global fellowship Diamond Way Buddhism Karma Kagjü lineage in the West and controversial personality especially because of his censure on the address of Islam and also other world religious traditions. The aim of this project is to partly map and look over the view on the world religions from the perspective of members of the Diamond Way Buddhism Karma Kagjü lineage in the Czech Republic. The theme of the first and the second chapter is background of this lineage in the context of vajrayana and progress of the Diamond Way Buddhism in the Czech Republic. The third and the fourth chapter is devoted to self-understanding of this religious group and its relationship to other Buddhist traditions and to the rest of world religions (Indian traditions, Judaism, Christianity, Islam). Then the last section examines tendences to negative self-definition of the group in connection with the construction of member?s personal religious identity. This section also attempts to analyze deeper causations of this tendences and functions of the negative self-definition for the social organism of this new religious movement.
