Possibilities of growing Piper nigrum L. and selected representatives of the genus Vanilla Mill. in the agroforestry system in Cambodia

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářská práce je zjistit ideální stanovištní podmínky pro pěstování pepřovníku čer-ného (Piper nigrum L.) a rodu Vanilla v agrolesnickém systému na území Kambodžského království. Pro tento výzkum byly vybrány 3 lokality splňující zásady hospodaření, zároveň reprezentující rozdílné klimatické a půdní poměry státu. V každé z těchto lokalit se na zkusné ploše vysázely semenáče pepřovníku. O rostliny pečovali majitelé pozemků a studenti z Royal University of Agriculture, kteří rovněž prováděli monitoring přírůstů a vývoje rostlin. Z výsledků vyplývá důležitost načasování založení výsadeb, ideálně počátkem období dešťů, v případě nákladné alternativy se závlahou i v období sucha a pravidelné údržby plantáží, jež spočívá zejména v odstraňování plevele, především v prvním roce výsadby.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out the ideal habitat conditions for growing black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) and the genus Vanilla in the agroforestry system in the territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia. For this research, 3 sites complying with the principles of farming were selected, at the same time representing the different climatic and soil conditions of the state. In each of these locations, pepper seedlings were planted on the plot. The plants were tended by landowners and students from the Royal University of Agriculture, who also monitored plant growth and development. The results show the importance of the timing of plantings, ideally at the beginning of the rainy season, in the case of an expensive irrigated alternative even in the dry season and the regular maintenance of plantations, which consists mainly in weeding, especially in the first year of planting
