Bankruptcy models versus insolvency tests

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, zda existuje vazba mezi splněním testů insolvence a zhodnocením bankrotních/bonitních modelů na předem stanoveném vzorku firem v konkrétním odvětví. Vedlejším cílem práce je určit závislost výsledku bankrotního/bonitního modelu a testu insolvence na velikosti podniku pomocí statistických testů. Podstatou práce je určit, zda lze očekávat, že bankrotní/nebonitní podniky spíše nesplní test insolvence a naopak. K naplnění cílů diplomové práce je aplikována teoreticko-metodologická základna vybraných bankrotních/bonitních modelů a testů insolvence. Provedený výzkum vychází z účetních dat extrahovaných z databáze Albertina. K testování hypotéz byl použit chí-kvadrát test. V závěru práce probíhá syntéza praktické části a získané výsledky jsou komparovány mezi sebou.

Abstract:

The main objective of the thesis is to investigate whether there is a link between meeting the insolvency tests and the assessment of bankruptcy/bankruptcy models on a predetermined sample of firms in a specific industry. A secondary objective of the thesis is to determine the dependence of bankruptcy/bonit model and insolvency test performance on firm size using statistical tests. The essence of the paper is to determine whether bankruptcy/non-bankruptcy firms can be expected to be more likely to fail the insolvency test and vice versa. In order to meet the objectives of the thesis, the theoretical and methodological basis of selected bankruptcy/debit models and insolvency tests is applied. The research conducted is based on accounting data extracted from the Albertina database. Chi-square test was used to test the hypotheses. The paper concludes with a synthesis of the practical part and the results obtained are compared with each other.
