Czech Literary Decadence in the Years of 1990 - 2010

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce „Česká literární dekadence v letech 1990-2010“ pojednává o současné české literární dekadenci. První kapitola se zaměří na osvětlení pojmu dekadence a základních principů dekadentní estetiky, dekadentního myšlení, právě tak jako i na základní témata dekadence. Dále se práce zaměří na poukázání rozdílů mezi českou a světovou dekadencí. Poté, co bude takto v historické perspektivě ozřejměn pojem „dekadence“, přikročíme k hlavnímu tématu práce: současné podobě dekadence. Práce bude na základě předchozí části analyzovat proměnu témat a symbolů dekadentního hnutí v poezii J. H. Krchovského, Luďka Markse a v raných sbírkách Petra Čichoně. Stěžejní otázkou se proto stává, zda současná česká literární dekadence nabízí hlubší podobu sdělení, která se dotýká poznání člověka a je tak svébytnou součástí uměleckého vývoje, či zda jen parazituje na své předchozí podobě. Sděluje současná dekadence povrch nebo je nástrojem pro poznání určité podoby či situace lidské existence?

Abstract:

The Bachelor diploma thesis "Czech literary decadence in the years of 1990-2010" deals with the contemporary Czech decadent literature. The first chapter will concentrate on the clarification of the notion of decadence and the basic principles of decadent aesthetics, decadent thinking, as well as the basic decadent topics. Furthermore, the work will concentrate on the stressing of the differences between the Czech and international decadence. After having clarified the notion of "decadence" in the historical perspective, I will approach the main topic of the work: the contemporary form of decadence. Based on the preceding part, the core of the work will analyse the transformation of the topics and symbols of the decadent movement in the poetry of J. H. Krchovský, Luděk Marks and the early works of Petr Čichoň. The pivotal question therefore is, whether the contemporary Czech literature of decadence offers a deeper form of a message, which concerns to the understanding of a man, and therefore is a peculiar part of the artistic development, or whether it is only parasitizing on its previous form. Does the contemporary decadence communicate only about the surface features or is it a tool of recognition of a certain form or situation of the human existence?
