Fermat's little theorem, Euler's theorem and their applications

Abstract:

Malá Fermatova věta a Eulerova věta jsou dvě příbuzné matematické věty z oboru teorie čísel. Malá Fermatova věta byla formulována v 17. století a Eulerova věta v 18. století. V dnešní době se tyto věty prakticky vyuţívají i v jiných oborech, například v kryptografii. V bakalářské práci stručně představíme ţivot Fermata a Eulera, shrneme nezbytnou teorii a ujasníme tyto věty. V hlavní části práce popíšeme aplikaci malé Fermatovy věty v testech prvočíselnosti a význam obou vět v celosvětově vyuţívaném šifrovacím systému RSA.

Abstract:

Fermat's little theorem and Euler's theorem are two related theorems from number theory field. Fermat's little theorem was formulated in 17th century and Euler's theorem in 18th century. Today both of the theorems are practically used even in other fields for example in cryptography. In this bachelor's thesis we will briefly introduce Fermat's and Euler's life, summarize necessary theory and clarify both theorems. In main section of the thesis we describe the application of Fermat's little theorem in primality tests and importance of both theorems in worldwide used cryptosystem RSA.
