In this thesis, the aim is to analyse crime novels in terms of the category of the narrator and consequently identify his/her roles and functions. Detektivní romány vydané v průběhu Zlatého věku se od sebe navzájem svou strukturou velmi liší, a tak se v rámci tohoto žánru vyskytuje mnoho různých variací ve vyprávění. Cílem naší práce je provést naratologickou analýzu kategorie vypravěče a následně odhalit, jaké má v narativu role a funkce.
