Analyse of Health Care System of the USA, Its Financing and Reform

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou systému zdravotnictví ve Spojených státech amerických, jedné z nejmocnějších ekonomik světa. Mou snahou bylo srozumitelně zprostředkovat českému čtenáři z řad akademických pracovníků i široké veřejnosti problematiku současného fungování zdravotnictví této země, s ohledem na skutečnost, že majoritní relevantní dokumenty a zdroje informací jsou dostupné pouze v anglickém jazyce. Těžiště této práce spočívá v analýze struktury financování zdravotní péče, a to jak z vládních programů (Medicaid, Medicare, Childrens´ Health Insurance Program aj.), tak z privátních zdrojů ekonomických subjektů. Práce stručně nastiňuje historický vývoj zdravotních reforem od roku 1945, popisuje jednotlivé rysy Obamovy reformy a zároveň specifikuje důvody, které k nejrozsáhlejší reformě systému zdravotnictví v dějinách USA vedly.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of health care system in the United States of America, one of the world’s most powerful economics. My endeavor was to comprehensibly mediate the Czech reader out of academics as well as to general public the issue of the current concept of health care system of this country, with respect to the fact that the majority of relevant documents and information sources are available only in English. The emphasis of this thesis rests in the area of health care financing, namely through government and non-government programs Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program etc.) as well as from private sources of economic subjects. The thesis provides a brief overview of the historical development of health care system since 1945, describes the individual features of the Obama´s reform and at the same time, specifies the reasons that led to the most extensive health care system reform in the history of the USA.
