The Hero cult in Ancient Greece - architecture of shrines and the function of the cult from the Geometric to the Classical period
Abstract:
Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části. První z nich pojednává o architektuře konkrétních, archeologicky zkoumaných temenů héróů, z nichž některé byly identifikovány s pomocí textů antických autorů. Tyto stavby jsou zařazeny, vzhledem k jejich tvaru a konstrukci, do několika skupin. Ve druhé části je řešena politická, sociální a náboženská funkce kultu héróů ve vymezeném období.
Abstract:
This bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. First part deals with architecture of excavated ancient Greek hero shrines. Texts of ancient authors help to identify some of them. Shrines are classified according to their shape and form into several categories. Second part is focused on political, social and religious function of the cult in the Greek world.
