Needle art in the context of contemporary art and artistic craft

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Needle art má formou přehledové studie dokázat, že autoři, jejichž vyjadřovacím prostředkem se stala jehla, patří do oblasti umění stejně jako uznávaná fotografie či kresba. Studie dále otevírá téma rovnocennosti lidového řemesla v současném umění. Vyjma základní charakteristiky jednotlivých oborů, jenž se řadí do kategorie needle artu zde budou představeni nejvýraznější interpreti z české i zahraniční scény, kteří pomocí netradičních postupů posunuli šité tvoření daleko za hranice domácích prací. Cílem výzkumu je na základě zjištěných teoretických poznatků první odborné zaznamenání na téma nedle art do akademického diskurzu.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis Needle art is supposed to prove in a form of overview study, that authors, whose means of expression became a needle, do belong in a field of art as much as for example recognized painters or photographers. The study also opens a theme of equivalence of folk craft in modern design. Except for basic characteristics of individual specializations that belongs to the category of needle art there will be presented the most influential creators from Czech republic but also from foreign countries, who, with help of non-traditional procedures, have moved stitching far beyond the boundaries of housework. The purpose of research is, based on acquired teoretical knowledge, the first proffesional record on the theme of needle art into academic discourse.
