Testing the sealing strenght of the airbags

Abstract:

Předložená práce je zaměřena na testování pevnosti švů airbagů. Airbag patří mezi prvky pasivní bezpečnosti, používaný převážně v automobilovém průmyslu, chránící lidské zdraví a životy. Proto je nutné testování jejich spolehlivosti a jejich dalšímu možnému vývoji věnovat velkou pozornost. Testovány byly švy airbagů, jejich pevnost a vhodnost použití nejčastěji používaného druhu švu při výrobě airbagů. Srovnání s některými dalšími typy švů také používaných při výrobě airbagů. Měření bylo prováděno pomocí trhacího přístroje a průběh jednotlivých zkoušek byl zaznamenán termokamerou. Ta umožňuje zobrazení vývoje teploty průběhu testování vzorků a následné vyhodnocení působení zvyšující se zátěže na testované vzorky. Výsledky měření potvrdily předpoklad o vhodnosti nejčastěji používaného švu při výrobě airbagů a rozšířily oblast znalostí dané problematiky, díky čemuž vyvstaly další otázky. Které by mohly vést k pokračování a rozšíření této práce. Zajímavé by bylo navázat na tuto práci testováním dalších druhů švů možných k použití při výrobě airbagů, nebo zvolit testování těchto švů jiným druhem namáhání, např. namáhání rázem.

Abstract:

The presented work is focused on testing the sealing strength of the airbags. The airbag is one of the elements of passive safety, used predominantly in the automotive industry to protect human health and lives. It is therefore necessary to pay close attention to testing their reliability and further development. The airbag seams, their strength and the suitability of the most commonly used seams in the manufacture of airbags were tested. Comparison with some other types of seams also used in the manufacture of airbags was conveyed. Measurement was performed using a tear-off apparatus and the course of the individual tests was recorded by a thermal camera. This allows us to visualize the development of the temperature of the sample test process and then evaluate the effect of the increasing load on the test specimens. The results of the measurements confirmed the hypothesis of the suitability of the most commonly used seams in the manufacture of airbags and expanded the area of knowledge of the given issue, giving rise to further questions - which could lead to the continuation and extension of this work. It would be interesting to build on this work by testing other types of seams that can be used in the manufacture of airbags, or to choose to test these seams with other types of stress, such as impact stress.
