The rehabilitation program of a sports patient with lateral epicondylitis of the elbow associated with trigger finger: case report

Abstract:

The lateral epicondylitis, or better known as "tennis elbow", is an inflammation of the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. This pathology can have various causes of onset, in fact the pain caused by this inflammation can depend both on structures present locally and on structures present at a distance. A good influence of pain can also be caused by contributing factors, such as manual activities. Tendinopathy can extend to the distal insertion of the olecranon bursa and cause tenosynovitis of the flexor muscles of the hand, such as stenosing tenosynovitis, commonly called trigger finger. In this pathology, a narrowing of the flexor pulley sheaths occurs combined with hypertrophy and inflammation of the tendon / sheath interface. This condition usually affects the dominant hand, with the thumb being the most targeted.

Abstract:

L'epicondilite laterale, o meglio conosciuta come "gomito del tennista", risulta essere un'infiammazione dell'epicondilo laterale del gomito. Questa patologia pu? avere diverse cause d'insorgenza, infatti il dolore causato da questa infiammazione pu? dipendere sia da strutture presenti localmente sia da strutture presenti a distanza. Una buona influenza del dolore pu? essere causata anche da fattori contribuenti, come le attivit? manuali. La tendinopatia si pu? estendere all'inserzione distale della borsa olecranica e causare una tenosinovite dei muscoli flessori della mano, come la tenosinovite stenosante, comunemente detta dito a scatto. In questa patologia si verifica un restringimento delle guaine della puleggia flessoria combinato con l'ipertrofia e l'infiammazione dell'interfaccia tendine/guaina. Questa patologia colpisce solitamente la mano dominante, e il pollice ? quello pi? bersagliato.
