Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine popular science texts in the sphere of medicine. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces some of the basic aspects of genre analysis. Firstly, several definitions of concepts related to the topic are given, such as genre and genre analysis. Then a number of the most known methodologies of analysing genres is explained and subsequently, Nwogu?s model is described. The end of the theoretical part is concerned with topics such as text, discourse, the popularisation of science, and distortion. The practical part focuses on 15 selected articles from websites psychologytoday.com and sciencedaily.com which have undergone genre analysis according to Nwogu?s model. The two sources are compared in the Conclusion. The aim of the study was to analyse the texts, in which individual ?moves? of the methodology were sought. In the Conclusion, it was found out that Move 2 and Move 8 are more significant than other moves as they were found in all texts. It was also found out that one of the sources follows the structure of Nwogu?s model more than the other.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou populárně-vědeckých textů z oblasti medicíny. Teoretická část představuje základní aspekty žánrové analýzy; nejprve jsou popsány základní pojmy jako žánr a žánrová analýza. Pak je vysvětleno několik nejznámějších metod analýzy žánrů a následně je popsaný model od Nwogu. Závěr teoretické části se zabývá tématy jako text, diskurz, popularizace vědy a distorze. Praktická část představuje 15 vybraných článků z webových stránek psychologytoday.com a sciencedaily.com, které byly podrobeny žánrové analýze dle Nwoguho modelu a v závěru práce jsou tyto 2 zdroje i porovnány. Cílem práce bylo provést žánrovou analýzu textů, ve kterých byly hledány jednotlivé ?moves? podle svolené metodiky. V závěru se ukázalo, Move 2 a Move 8 jsou významnější než ty ostatní a byly nalezeny ve všech textech. Zároveň se ukázalo, že jeden z použitých zdrojů dodržuje strukturu Nwoguho modelu více než ten druhý.
