Directing of Sophocles' tragedy Antigone

Abstract:

Absolevtentska práce “Inscenace Antigona od Sofokla“ se zabývá analýzou a reziserkom koncepcí hry „Antigona“ Sofokla. Budoucí výkon Antigony bude velká veřejná debata. Antigona je komplexní drama, studium psychologie lidského jednání. Každá postava představuje morální ideál, morální argument. Konflikty mezi Antigonou a Kreonem představují silné lidské boje,které jsou aktuální í dnes: stát versus jednotlivec, stát versus rodina, stát proti církvi, stárý versus mladí a muž versus žena. I přesto,že sbor nabádá k poslušnosti,k dodržování zákonů bohů,morální principy nebyly dodrženy. Postavy ve hře mají svobodnou vůli vybrat, ale důsledky jejich rozhodnutí jsou řízeny osudem určeným bohy. Antigona a Kreont si trvají na svém, ,což považují za logickou volbu, ale jsou limitováni znalostmi, a tak nemohou předvídat důsledky své volby. Příliš často tvrdošíjně odmítají poslouchat rady. Dva hlavní diskutěři v hře, Antigonа a Kreon, byli nakonec zničeni a diskuse zůstala bez jasného vítěze. Hra Antigone žádá publikum, aby pokračovalo v rozpravě.

Abstract:

The master thesis “The production of Antigone from Sophocles“ is dealing with analysis and directorial concept of a play “Antigone” by Sophocles. The future performance Antigone will be a great public debate. Antogone is a complex drama, a study of the psychology of human actions. Each character represents a moral ideal, a moral argument. Conflicts between Antigone and Creon are powerful human struggles that are still relevant today: the state versus the individual, the state versus the family, the state versus the church, the old vs. the young and the man versus the woman. Although the chorus delivers the morale of obedience, above all to the laws of the gods, in the end morality is not firmly concluded. The characters in the play have the free will to choose, but the consequences of their choices are guided by the destiny determined by the gods. Both Antigone and Creon stand stubbornly to what they consider a logical choice, but they are limited in their knowledge, and cannot foresee all the consequences of their choice. Too often they stubbornly refuse to listen to advice. The future performance Antigone will be a great public debate. The two main debaters in the play, Antigone and Creon, were destroyed in the end, leaving the debate without a clear winner. The play Antigone asks its audience to continue the debate.
