Taxidermy in cultural institution, the phenomenon of a stuffed animal

Abstract:

Práce seznamuje s historickým a demografickým vývojem trhu s preparáty obratlovců, současně se zabývá preparátem v dnešní době. Zachycuje, jak proměňoval obchod se zvířaty svoji funkci. Taxidermii v kulturních institucích dělí do dvou rovin, známější dokumentární s ohledem na vznik a historii, avšak hlavní důraz je kladen na probádání současné umělecké roviny. Je sledován vývoj ceny preparátů v Česku a v zahraničí. Zaznamenaná je změna statutu z pomůcky v muzejních, školních a soukromých sbírkách na kuriozitu a později umělecké dílo v galerii, na konceptuální umění nebo předmět marketingu.

Abstract:

The thesis acquaints with the historical and demographical development of the market with the taxidermy. It captures, how the taxidermal trade has transformed its function. Taxidermy in cultural institutions is divided into two parts, the more known, documentary level, with regard to origin and history, however, the main emphasis of the thesis is on exploring the current artistic level. The development of taxidermy prices is monitored in the Czech Republic and abroad. and today. A change of status is recorded from an item in a museum, school or private collection to a curiosity item, and later, a work of art in a gallery, conceptual art or marketing subject.
