System for Creation of Dictionary

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vytvořením lexikografického nástroje na tvorbu jednosměrných dvojjazyčných slovníků nebo encyklopedií; zhotoveného za účelem vytvoření Islandsko-českého studijního slovníku. V úvodu jsou vysvětleny cíle této práce. V druhé kapitole je zachycena historie vývoje aplikace Dictionary System spolu s tvorbou Islandsko-českého studijního slovníku. V třetí kapitole je aplikace popsána z hlediska islandské praktické lexikografie. Ve čtvrté kapitole jsou popsány metody programování. V páté kapitole je detailně vysvětleno, jak aplikace funguje a jaké funkce nabízí. V šesté kapitole je popsáno praktické použití aplikace nejenom jako lexikografického nástroje, ale také jako informačního zdroje pro výuku islandštiny. Výsledkem je plně funkční webová aplikace publikovaná pod Obecnou veřejnou licencí GNU v.3.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the development of a lexicographical tool for building one-way bilingual dictionaries or encyclopedias; the purpose of the application was to build an Icelandic-Czech Students' Dictionary. The aims of the thesis are outlined in the introductory chapter; the second chapter is concerned with the developmental process of the Dictionary System application, along with the progress in the creation of the Icelandic-Czech Students' Dictionary. The third chapter focuses on the use of the application in regard to the Icelandic practical lexicography, while the fourth chapter outlines the programming methods. The fifth chapter shows in detail how the application works and what functions it offers. The sixth chapter sheds light on the practical usage of application, not only as a lexicographical tool but also as an informational source for learning Icelandic. The result of this thesis is a fully functional web application published under GNU General Public License v.3.
