Violence in the Bronze Age societies

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá tématem násilí v pravěku, především pak násilím ve společnostech doby bronzové. V první části práce jsem se zabývala úvodem do problematiky násilí a nastíněním role násilí v jednotlivých periodách pravěku. Jsou zde také zkoumány archeologické zdroje pro pozorování násilí a to v podobě artefaktů, osteologického materiálu a ikonografie. V následné diskuzi jsem se snažila poukázat na celou problematiku násilí v pravěku. Je zde diskutován postupný vývoj násilí ve společnostech a to od paleolitu po dobu bronzovou. Také se zabývám problematikou výpovědnostních vlastností archeologických zdrojů pro interpretaci násilí. Diskutovány jsou také otázky válečnictví, prvních specializovaných zbraní a kanibalismu.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the theme of violence in the prehistory, especially on violence in the Bronze Age societies. Theoretical part deals with the introduction to the problems of violence and the role of violence in particular periods of prehistory. I have also analyzed there the violence in the bronze age by using the archaeological sources. Chosen sources for this study were artifacts, osteological material and iconography. In Discussion is discussed the whole problem of violence in prehistory. The aim is to study the problems of interpretation of violence through archaeological evidence. Questions of warfare, first specialized weapons and cannibalism are there also discussed.
