The Chinese in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice asimilace čínské komunity na území České republiky a především v Praze, protože právě zde je největší počet čínských přistěhovalců. Cílem práce je zmapovat postavení této stále rostoucí komunity na našem území a její začlenění do české společnosti jak z hlediska socio-ekonomického, tak z hlediska kulturního. Podobně zaměřených prací u nás existuje zatím velmi málo, což je jedním z důvodů, proč jsem si toto téma vybrala. Práci lze rozdělit na tři části. První část se věnuje historii čínské emigrace a postupnému usazování na našem území. Druhá část se již podrobněji zaměřuje na česko-čínské soužití a problematiku integrace čínské komunity. Třetí část tvoří vlastní průzkum, zabývající se otázkou jaké mají Češi povědomí o této komunitě a jak na ně působí a dále jakou má česká veřejnost zkušenost s čínskou kulturou.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of the assimilation of the Chinese community in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague, where we can find the largest number of Chinese immigrants. The aim of this thesis is to map the position of this growing community in our country and the problems of their integration into the society from a socio-economic and also cultural view. There is still not a large number of works dealing with similar topics, which is also one of the reasons why I chose it. It is possible to divide this thesis into three parts. The first deals mainly with the history of Chinese emigration and their gradual settling down in the Czech Republic. The second part goes more into detail and describes the problematics of the Czech-Chinese coexistence and of the integration of the Chinese into our society. The third part consists of a survey which I carried out, in order to find out how the Czech perceive the Chinese community, how much they know about it and what their experiences are.
