Stock indices on the american stock market

Abstract:

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to analyse stock market trends, structure and changes in the last years. As investors we can buy stocks on the European, Asian and American stock markets, where is excellent enviroment for trading. Trading on the world markets has own rules, traders use on line quotations, charts, fundamental and technical analyses. Stocks on individual stock exchanges are associated into stock exchange indices. Stock exchange indices aren´t any news they are published for several decades already. In general, indices are changing and it´s necessary to update them because of changing situation in the economy. Some companies contained in the index can exit the market, some others can merge and their weight on the performance of the economy changes and thus also their weight in the index. Every investor has to trace the prices of their stocks and their position towards overall situation of the stock market, it means they have to trace the volatility of their stocks. Eventhough the stock indices are increasing, investors are afraid because current conditions on financial markets are differnet than one year ago.

Abstract:

Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je analyzovať akciový trh z pohľadu doterajšieho vývoja, jeho štruktúry a zmien, ktoré nastali v posledných rokoch. Ako investori môžeme akcie nakupovať či už na európskej, ázijskej či americkej burze, kde sa poskytuje obchodníkom naozaj excelentné prostredie pre aktívne obchodovanie. Obchodovanie na svetových trhoch sa odohráva na základe pravidiel, obchodníci využívajú on-line dáta v cenách, kotácie, grafy, fundamentálne a technické analýzy. Akcie na jednotlivých burzách sú združené do akciových indexov. Akciové indexy rozhodne nie sú žiadna novinka, sú publikované už desiatky rokov. Všeobecne indexy sa menia a je nevyhnutné ich priebežne aktualizovať vzhľadom na meniacu sa situáciu v danej ekonomike. Niektoré spoločnosti obsiahnuté v indexe môžu úplne odísť z trhu, iné sa môžu zlúčiť a tým pádom sa mení ich podiel na výkonnosti ekonomiky a tiež aj váha v indexe. Každý akciový investor musí okrem ceny svojich individuálnych akcií sledovať ich pozíciu voči celkovému stavu akciového trhu, to znamená, že musí sledovať volatilitu svojich akcií. I keď sa akciové indexy posilňujú, investori majú obavy, nakoľko dnešné podmienky na finančných trhoch sú iné ako pred rokom.
