Using the work of an auditor's expert in valuation

Abstract:

Tento text se zabývá využitím práce expertů při auditech účetních závěrek. Zvláštní pozornost je zde věnována expertům v oblasti oceňování. Cílem práce je podat obraz o tom, v jaké míře auditoři v České republice využívají expertů při auditu, kterých a jak tato spolupráce probíhá. Podkladem této činnosti je v současnosti platný Mezinárodní auditorský standard (ISA) 620 Využití práce auditorova experta, který je v textu blíže rozebrán a na němž je postaven dotazníkový průzkum, jenž je součástí této práce. V teoretické části je popsán historický vývoj auditu a současná mezinárodní regulace s důrazem na auditorské standardy týkající se práce experta. Praktická část práce sestává z výsledků dotazníkového šetření mezi auditory zapsanými v Komoře auditorů České republiky k 5.březnu 2022 a z rozhovoru s jedním expertem v oceňování, jehož smyslem bylo doplnění průzkumu o informace, které nebylo z dotazníků možné získat a pro srovnání odpovědí auditorů s odpověďmi experta, tedy obou spolupracujících stran.

Abstract:

The scope of this work is to analyze the use of an auditor’s expert’s work. Special attention is given to the work of experts in valuation. The aim is to describe under which circumstances and how frequently auditors use the experts‘ work, what kinds of experts auditors cooperate with the most and what this cooperation looks like. Such work should be conducted in compliance with the International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 620 Using the work of an auditor’s expert, which is more closely analysed in this text and on which a survey, that is a part of this work, is based. The theoretical part of this work consists of a description of the historical development of auditing and of the current international auditing regulation with emphasis on auditing standards relevant to the use of experts in audit. The analytical part consists of a survey, conducted among the statutory auditors registered in the list of auditors of The Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic as at March 5, 2022, and of an interview with an expert in valuation, that served to further the research with additional information that couldn’t be retrieved from the survey and to compare the auditors‘ answers with the expert’s answers, that is to get some input from both cooperating sides.
