Students' Knowledge of the Principles and Techniques of Patient Positioning

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá znalostí studentů o zásadách a technikách polohování. Teoretická část na úvod popisuje polohování, jeho cíle, kompetence zdravotnických pracovníků v oblasti polohování. Dále se zabývá zásadami polohování, polohovacím pomůckami a imobilizačním syndromem. V druhé části teorie jsou rozebrány konkrétní polohy, jejich výhody a nevýhody a vhodné pomůcky, jako jsou například polohovatelné lůžko, polohovací had či polohovací pomůcky z paměťové pěny. Průzkumná část pomocí kvantitativního průzkumu zjišťuje rozdíl ve znalostech o polohování u studentů všeobecného ošetřovatelství v prezenční a kombinované formě. Průzkum je rozdělen na 2 části, zkoumající obecné znalosti o polohování a specifika u vybraných poloh. Cílem práce je zjistit znalosti studentů prezenční a kombinované formy studia o polohování, vybraných polohách a jejich využití. Na základě průzkumu bylo zjištěno, že studenti v kombinované formě, na rozdíl od prezenční formy studia, mají větší obecné znalosti o polohování. Znalosti studentů o jednotlivých polohách jsou stejné u obou forem studia.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with students' knowledge of the principles and techniques of positioning. The theoretical part of this thesis describes various aspects of patient positioning; its goals, competencies and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, optimal techniques to be used, positioning aids and immobilization syndrome. Subsequently, it expounds specific positions by identifying their advantages and disadvantages, listing the appropriate positioning aids that can be used, such as a profiling bed, positioning roll and various memory foam aids. The practical component of the thesis entails quantitative research, employed to ascertain the varying levels of knowledge among both part-time and full-time nursing students. The research is divided into two main sections: one delving into the general understanding of patient positioning, and the other concentrating on the knowledge required for specific positioning scenarios. The thesis aims to assess the extent of knowledge among both part-time and full-time nursing students regarding patient manipulation, positioning, and their proficiency in utilizing diverse positioning techniques. The research revealed that part-time students exhibit a stranger grasp of general knowledge pertaining to patient positioning compared to their full-time counterparts. Both full-time and part-time students demonstrate equal proficiency in their knowledge of specific positions.
