Development of health care costs in the Czech Republic in the period 2004 - 2016 depending on the demographic development

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je analýza vývoje nákladů na zdravotní péči v České republice v období 2004 - 2016 v závislosti na demografickém vývoji. V teoretické části práce autorka charakterizuje základní typologii zdravotnických systémů a demografické ukazatele, které jsou důležité při tvorbě státní politiky v oblasti zdravotnictví. Praktická část obsahuje podrobnou analýzu celkových výdajů na zdravotnictví, které jsou porovnány s makroekonomickými ukazateli a ekonomickými skutečnostmi, a analýzu demografických procesů za sledované období. V roce 2014 dosáhly celkové výdaje na zdravotnictví téměř 300 miliard korun, což je historickém maximum, a v roce 2015 tvořilo zdravotnictví 7,7 % HDP. Současným trendem v oblasti demografii zůstává stárnutí obyvatelstva a pokles porodnosti, které má významný vliv na růst celkových výdajů na zdravotnictví. Autorka předkládá doporučení v oblasti reformy financování zdravotní péče a efektivního fungování.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of the development of costs of health care in the Czech Republic in the period 2004 - 2016, depending on the demographic development. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the author characterizes basic typology of health systems and demographic indicators, which are important in the creation of state policy in the field of health care. The practical part contains a detailed analysis of the total healthcare expenditures that are compared with the macroeconomic indicators and economic facts, and the analysis of the demographic processes over the monitored period. In 2014, total healthcare spending was nearly 300 billion crowns, which is the historical maximum, and in 2015 health care was 7,7 % of GDP. The demographic trend is the aging of the population and the decline in birth rates, which has a significant impact on the growth of total health expenditure. The author makes recommendations on reforming healthcare financing and effective functioning.
