Preparation of clients on release from residential care orphanage

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce pojednává o problematice přípravy klientů dětských domovů na ukončení ústavní výchovy a přechod do samostatného života. Cílem práce je zjistit, jak klienti reflektují vlastní přípravu na odchod ze zařízení. Teoretická část práce se zabývá systémem náhradní výchovy v České republice a charakteristikou klientů, dále pojednává o životě v dětském domově, včetně rizik, která přináší dlouhodobé umístění v zařízení ústavní výchovy. Stěžejní kapitola, která uzavírá teoretickou část práce, se věnuje fázím procesu přípravy na odchod podle věku klientů. Empirická část zahrnuje metodologii výzkumného šetření a následnou interpretaci získaných dat. Kvalitativní výzkum za pomoci analýzy 8 rozhovorů hledá odpověď na již zmíněnou otázku, jak klienti dětského domova reflektují přípravu na odchod do samostatného života. Zaměřuje se na otázky, jak příprava probíhá v rámci každodenního života v dětském domově a jaké jsou představy klientů o životě za zdmi instituce.

Abstract:

This Master's thesis deals with the issue of the preparation of orphanage clients for their finalization of constitutional education and their transition to independent life. The goal is to find out, how the clients reflect to their own preparation for their leave from the instituiton. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the system of residential education in the Czech Republic and the characteristics of clients, along with everyday life in orphanage, including it's risks, which come with longterm stay in these insitutions. The crucial chapter, which concludes the theoretical part, works with the phases of the preparation process for client's leave according to their age. The empirical part includes methodology of research and eventual interpretation of acquired data. Qualitative research, using analysis of eight interviews, searches for an answer for the question of how the orphanage clients reflect to their leave from the institution and their transition to independent everyday life. It targets questions of process of the preparation in scale of everyday life in orphanage and it's client's expectation of the live beyond the institution's walls.
