Moral decision-making of Child protective services workers

Abstract:

Téma mé práce je zaměřeno na morální rozhodování pracovníků orgánů sociálně právní ochrany dětí. Cílem práce je prostřednictvím kvalitativního výzkumu identifikovat situace, v nichž jsou pracovníci služeb v oblasti sociálně právní ochrany dětí vystaveni morálnímu rozhodování, jaký přístup k němu v těchto situacích volí a jaká teorie morálního rozhodování převažuje. Zvolenou výzkumnou metodou je kvalitativní přístup, polostrukturované rozhovory a pro analýzu byla zvolena metoda zakotvené teorie. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část je zaměřena na popisný vhled do problematiky - sociálně právní ochrany dětí a klíčových termínů, které se s ní pojí. Zároveň je součástí teoretické části definování pojmů, označujících zásady důležité pro morální rozhodování. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na výzkum a interpretaci výsledků. Výzkum přinesl zjištění, že v morálním rozhodování pracovnic převažuje etika péče. Za morálně nejsložitější situaci označují pracovnice odebírání dítěte z péče rodiny a jako nejčastěji volený přístup ke zvládání dilemat uvádějí změnu morálního ideálu.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis is focused on the moral decision-making of the workers of the child protection services. The objective of the thesis is to, through the use of qualitative research, identify the situations in which the child protection social workers face the moral decision-making, which approach they choose in these situations and which moral decision-making theory prevails. The chosen research method is qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews and the grounded theory method was chosen for the analysis. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on the descriptive insight into the problematic - social and legal protection of children and key terms connected with it. At the same time, part of the theoretical part is also the definition of terms indicating principles important for the moral decision-making. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the research and interpretation of the result The research brought finding that the ethic of care prevails in the moral decision-making of the female social workers. Female workers consider removal of child from the care of their family as the morally most difficult situation and list the change of moral ideal as the most chosen approach to cope with dilemmas.
