Comparison of complaint settlements of the Card Association VISA International and of the Card Association American Express

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaobírá problematikou reklamačních pravidel a postupů karetních asociací VISA a American Express. První část práce je zaměřena na historii pěti největších karetních asociací (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club a JCB) ve světě a u nás. V této části se seznamujeme se vznikem a postupným vývojem již zmíněných karetních asociací. Druhá část popisuje vlastní vznik reklamací operací provedených platební kartou. Třetí část popisuje jednotlivé typy možných reklamací, které mohou vzniknout v souvislosti s použitím platební karty. Nejčastějším typem reklamace je duplicita, tj. klient (držitel platební karty) uskuteční jednu transakci, která je mu následně z účtu, ke kterému byla platební karta vydána, zúčtována dvakrát. Čtvrtá část je zaměřena na vývoj reklamačních postupů karetních asociací VISA a American Express, které v závěrečné páté části vzájemně srovnáváme.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis concerns reclamation rules and procedures regarding card associations VISA International and American Express. First part of the work is focused on history of 5 biggest cards associations (VISA International, MasterCard International, American Express, Diners Club and JCB) in the world and in our country. In this part I introduce you to the foundation and development of above mentioned card associations. Second part describes origin of reclamation concerning operations realized by payment card. Third part describes particular types of possible reclamations that can occur in connection with payment card usage. Most often reclamation type is duplication, i.e. client (cardholder) effects one transaction that is charged twice form the account connected with respective payment card. Fourth part is focused on development of reclamation procedures of card associations VISA International and American Express that I compare in last fifth part.
