Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce prezentuje situaci vzdělávání a anglického jazyka v Ugandě. Základem jsou zejména data sesbíraná Jitkou Vosmekovou, autorkou práce, která strávila 5 týdnů v této zemi. Během tohoto dobrodružného výletu autorka cestovala po zemi, navštívila safari, vesnice a města v Ugandě za účelem poznání všech možných podmínek, ve kterých místní obyvatelé žijí. Další misí autorky bylo navštívit základní školu v Rushooce, vesnici na jihu země. Cílem teze je ukázat atmosféru a kulturní specifika Ugandy, podmínek ve škole v Rushooce a zachycení použití anglického jazyka. Za účelem sběru dat byly použity následující metody: psaní poznámek do osobního deníku zároveň s osobním kontaktem autorky s Joseline Amutuhaire, učiteli, dětmi, otci z fary v Rushooce a ostatními obyvateli.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis presents the situation of education and English language in Uganda based mainly on the data collected by Jitka Vosmeková, the author of the thesis, who spent 5 weeks in the country. During this adventurous trip, the author was travelling around the country, visiting safari, villages and cities of Uganda in order to explore any possible conditions the inhabitants live in. Another mission of the author was to attend a primary school in Rushooka, a village in the south of the country. The aim of this thesis is to show the atmosphere and cultural specifications of Uganda, of the conditions in the school in Rushooka, and to depict the use of English language. For the purposes of collecting data, the following methods were used: making notes in a personal diary and interviewing along with a personal interaction between the author and Joseline Amutuhaire, the teachers, pupils, fathers from the parish in Rushooka, and other inhabitants.
