How European Americans Have Influenced the Diet of the Plains Indians

Abstract:

The Plains Indians of the United States and their diet are the focus of interest of this thesis and this study analyses how their traditional diet and nutrition have been altered from the time of their contact with the European traders and American settlers till the present day. One purpose of this thesis is to investigate dietary changes in these indigenous peoples as an outcome of their interaction with the European American culture. The far-reaching consequences resulting from this encounter between the Native American and European American cultures are also outlined here.
