Relationship between the state and railways - historical comparative analysis of transport policy

Abstract:

The goal of the submitted thesis is the analysis of the historical development of railways, railway traffic and state involvement in this sector. This research is about an economic view on the history of railways in chosen states. It evaluates the government measures, instruments and aims which were used and their successes. It investigates the common transport policy in the European Union, its aims and instruments to achieve the goals. The comparison of contemporary policy and the one used in the past could give an answer, which measures were successful and which not, and a recommendation for the Czech conditions.

Abstract:

Predmetom diplomovej práce je analýza historického vývoja železníc, železničnej dopravy a hlavne štátnych opatrení týkajúcich sa železničnej dopravy. Ide o ekonomický pohľad na dejiny železníc vybraných krajín, o zhodnotenie štátnych opatrení, ktoré boli v histórii uskutočnené, z hľadiska úspešnosti splnenia vytýčených cieľov a nástrojov, ktoré boli pri tom použité. Ide taktiež o pohľad na súčasnú spoločnú dopravnú politiku Európskej únie, jej vytýčené ciele a použité nástroje na dosiahnutie týchto cieľov. Porovnaním súčasnej a hospodárskej politiky uplatňovanej v minulosti možno zistiť, ktoré opatrenia boli úspešné, ktoré nie a odporučiť tak konkrétne nástroje pre podmienky Českej republiky.
