Basic Principles of CouchSurfing and Trust as its Essential Part

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Základní principy CouchSurfingu a důvěra jako jeho nezbytná část“ přibližuje podstatu a hlavní znaky dosud nepříliš prozkoumané oblasti CouchSurfingu ve spojení s důvěrou, bez které by jeho existence nebyla možná. Teoretická část se zabývá obecnou charakteristikou CouchSurfingu, jeho bezpečnostními prvky a dále pak zkoumá pojmy jako je důvěra, předsudky, virtuální identita či komunikace ve virtuálním prostředí. Výzkumná část se zaměřuje na pohled, který zaujímají vůči CouchSurfingu jeho členové. Je zde kvalitativní metodou analyzováno a následně pak interpretováno celkem šest rozhovorů. Cílem výzkumné části je proniknout co nejhlouběji do podstaty a významu CouchSurfingu a pomocí rozhovorů prozkoumat, jak se na jeho fungování dívají samotní členové a zejména pak co ovlivňuje na CouchSurfingu jejich důvěru v ostatní členy.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis entitled „Basic Principles of CouchSurfing and Trust As Its Essential Part“ clarifies the essence and main characteristics of this so far unresearched field of CouchSurfing, in conjunction with trust, without which its existence would not be possible. The theoretical part deals with the general characteristic of CouchSurfing, its security elements and then it further investigates terms such as trust, prejudices, virtual identity or computer-mediated communication. The research part focuses on the point of view which members of CouchSurfing adopt towards CouchSurfing. There are six interviews in total that are analysed and interpreted here, using a qualitative method. The aim of the research part is to get to the heart of the essence and meaning of CouchSurfing and explore, with the assistance of interviews, how the members perceive its functions and particularly what influences their trust to other CouchSurfing members.
